Although many people often take their teeth for granted it is not until they develop toothache or lose a tooth that their true value is appreciated.
Our teeth allow us to speak, eat, play musical wind instruments and provide support to our lips. Without them many things that we take for granted would be made more difficult. Teeth also play an important role in forming facial expressions & form which influence how people perceive us or the mood we are in.
Why have a check-up?
Many people think of a visit to the dentist as simply checking their teeth; during a dental check-up we not only check you teeth, we also look at the pink soft tissue within you mouth and those around your neck to check for any abnormality which may require further investigation.
How often should I have a check-up?
Most people have a dental check-up every 6-12 months which allows the dentist to keep an eye on what is going on in your mouth and monitor anything suspicious. We would therefore recommend having a dental check-up every 6-12 months as it allows potential problems to be spotted early and treated.
I have dentures, do I need a check-up?
Even if you have no remaining natural teeth and full dentures you should still have a check-up at the dentist to monitor the condition of the soft pink tissues of the mouth and the fit of your dentures.
